One Stop Science & Nature Ltd opened their first shop on 1 December 2011 at Burnham Deepdale on the North Norfolk Coast. The aim was simple, to provide a destination outlet where people could find "all things" involved in nature observation.
Owners and Directors Richard Campey (pictured above in Svarlbard, 2011) and Bob Town had been childhood friends spending their teen years, fishing, birdwatching and looking at all wildlife in the Kent village of Loose near Maidstone. They went their separate ways with Richard going to Cardiff University to study Zoology and then spend two years as warden on Lundy Island. He then trained as an A-level biology & science teacher and taught at King's College Taunton. The lure of a career in conservation was however too strong and Richard left to work for the RSPB for the following eight years, and presented TSW wildlife programme "wild about the west". The next twenty two years were spent with leading optical retailers In Focus. Bob meanwhile had carved a career in purer science and became the country's leading specialist in microscopes.
Something akin to convergent evolution found them both involved in the business of nature observation, and so The One Stop Nature Shop was formed. Expert advice and a friendly approach to ensure customers choose the right piece of equipment to suit both their needs and budget are key features of the shop.
